Job Responsibilities

  • Provide consultation and deployment services in Software Defined Networking and Network Function Virtualization environments for Enterprise and Service Provider environments
  • Deliver in-person, onsite and/or online training on the following topics:
    • LogicFinder in-house developed content
    • NEC ProgrammableFlowController (PFC)
    • Big Switch Networks: Big Cloud Fabric and Big Monitoring Fabric
    • Cisco SDN content
    • VMWare solutions content
    • Juniper SDN bootcamps
    • SDN (ODL)
  • Provide expert level assessment services in multi-vendor IP Network Infrastructure settings, supplying detailed network audit and assessment services
  • Consult, design, implement and test Controllers and SDN-controlled hardware solutions.
  • Consultation and verification related to customer application virtualization, cloud orchestration, etc
  • Conduct Knowledge Transfer sessions with customers around configuration and maintenance of SDN solutions
  • Develop opportunities for knowledge transfer and documentation of procedures and best practice guidelines for Professional Services team members
  • Maintain knowledge of competitive landscape and share knowledge with peers of business units that support SDN Solutions
  • Work effectively with the Product Management/Development, and the Technical Support organization
  • Foster a collaborative, team-based environment, sharing best practices and building lasting relationships around SDN
  • Develop procedures for implementation, assessment, and design of new and existing product offerings
  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert, where necessary, in order to assist in services sale closure
  • Develop core relationships with key interlock groups: Pre-Sales, Engineering, Product Management, etc
  • Pursue technical training paths and industry certification in order to enhance delivery capabilities
  • Identify technical gaps in order to pursue further development
  • Keep abreast of developing technologies within identified products and markets
  • Provide regular status reporting on projects and initiatives Develop professional and technical skills in support of business initiatives

Desired Skills and Experience

Working knowledge and competency related to server/network virtualization, cloud, orchestration, and network management platforms/tools

Strong Unix/Linux experience

Experience with VM technologies, hypervisors (ESXi, Xen, KVM, Hyper-V, etc.), and applications running on hypervisor solutions

Minimum of 3 years of experience in internetworking equipment configuration and support in multi-vendor environments, with knowledge of a range of state-of-the-art network practices and technologies (L2 switching technologies and protection mechanisms, VLAN/VxLAN, L3 technologies and protocols such as OSPF, MPLS, BGP, L4-7 application delivery and balancing, Wireless networking technologies, etc.)

Familiarity with SDN Controller architectures, specifically OpenDaylight. Experience with other controllers is useful (NOX, Floodlight, RYU, Beacon/Maestro, etc.)

Programming and scripting skills/tools in cloud/SDN environments (Java, Python, C++, TCL/Expect, Puppet/Chef, etc.)

Experience with soft/virtual networking, such as Open vSwitch (OVS), OVSDB, OpenFlow

Education & Certification:

  • BS Degree in Electronics/Communication/Electrical or Computer Science
