Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Technical Proposal Writer with a strong background in Information Technology (IT) and Cybersecurity, particularly with a working knowledge of NIST standards (e.g., NIST 800-53, NIST Cybersecurity Framework). The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating compelling, accurate, and compliant technical content in response to RFPs, RFIs, and other bid opportunities in the cybersecurity and IT services domain.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze RFPs, RFIs, and other solicitation documents to determine response requirements.
- Collaborate with technical teams, SMEs, and business development personnel to gather input and translate complex IT and cybersecurity solutions into clear, compelling proposal content.
- Write, edit, and format technical sections including solutions architecture, compliance matrices, security controls, implementation strategies, and staffing plans.
- Ensure proposal responses meet client specifications and align with organizational voice, tone, and branding.
- Apply knowledge of NIST standards and frameworks (e.g., NIST SP 800-53, 800-171, CSF) to develop compliant and technically sound narratives.
- Maintain a proposal content library and update boilerplate materials regularly.
- Coordinate proposal timelines, reviews, and submission processes in collaboration with the proposal manager or capture lead.
Requirements:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Communications, English, or related field.Ā master’s degree is a plus.
Experience:
- 2 years of experience in technical writing or proposal development, specifically in the IT and cybersecurity sector.
- Proven experience responding to government and/or enterprise-level RFPs, RFIs, and RFQs.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity regulations and frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001, FedRAMP, etc.).
Skills:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity concepts, terminology, and risk management frameworks.
- Ability to interpret technical documentation and translate it into business-oriented language.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and proposal management tools (e.g., SharePoint, RFPIO, Loopio, etc.).
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
