LTE Deployment is a much better option than providing LTE support to cellular technologies which we will prove today in our post.

The deployment of LTE has two options:
- Gradual rollout with selected cell site upgrades.
- Rapid wide area deployment.
LTE can be thought of as a complete overlay or network infrastructure replaced with radio system or Single RAN. Single RAN is consumed during gradual rollout while LTE provides rapid deployment.
Gradual rollout using single RAN The operator with this option deploys LTE into the cell sites while continuing to grow the 3G network.
Single RAN simply means that you have to device a two step process:
- Replacement of 2G/3G legacy with new 2G/3G single RAN.
- Upgradation of cell to support LTE.
There exists a trade-off here and that is as we have more modern equipments herea reduction in OPEX can be seen. But the question is how much time will be required to do this two step process.
Rapid wide area deployment using network overlay involves “big bang” deployment in which operator covers maximum ground. This option allows to have as many subscribers as on LTE.
Overlay means that you leave your legacy of 2G/3G and add LTE into your network without the need of re-engineering.
Through this method there is no negative impact of ongoing operations and it ensures endless mobility.
With this approach LTE is growing very fast. To know the basics and more of LTE tune in to here:
